Sport Science Students

CLASS OF 2025

Cole Whitelaw

Cole completed his BS in Exercise Physiology with a minor in entrepreneurship at the University of Miami in 2022. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biokinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Science. His research interests include the validation or comparison of marker less motion capture systems for biomechanical injury risk assessments in sport or clinical populations. He aims to utilize these systems to generate reliable data for professionals in various industries and clinical settings, bridging the gap between academia and practical applications in sports science and biomechanics.

Giuliet Kibler, bs

Giuliet received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Southern Methodist University in 2023. She is currently in her first year of the Biokinesiology Master’s program. She is involved in the Clinical Exercise Research Center and the Gait Rehabilitation and Motor Learning Lab, integrating all aspects of the BKN program. Her research area of interest centers around women’s physiological adaptations to resistance training. She hopes to further pursue this research interest in academia in the future.

Katie Kim

Katie received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from UC Davis and is a first-year master's student in the Biokinesiology Sports Science program. She researched the potential biomechanical injury risk of kipping pull-ups during her undergraduate career before spending the last year working on fitness wearables. Her current research interests include injury prevention biomechanics and the incorporation of technology into its research and application. She currently supports the motion capture studio at USC’s Iovine and Young Academy and claims the unofficial official title of social media director of the sports science program (make sure to follow us @USCSportsSci)!

Nate Conger, BS, CSCS

Nate is currently in his first year of the Biokinesiology master's program with a sports Science emphasis. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Nate’s current research and career interests are currently centered around quantifying and maximizing sports performance output metrics in elite athletic populations.

Tyler Goldstein, Bs

Tyler received her Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While at UCSB, Tyler competed on the DI Softball Team where she was team captain for 3 out of her 4 years. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biokinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Science. Her research interests center around baseball pitching biomechanics, specifically Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) injury prevention. She has spent the past two years working at P3 Sports Science in Santa Barbara working in biomechanics with some of the world leaders in the field. Throughout her time at USC, Tyler will be involved in the Clinical Biomechanics Orthopedic and Sports Outcomes Research (COOR) Lab with Dr. Michener and her team.

Vanessa Taylor

Vanessa is currently in her first year of the Biokinesiology Master’s program with an emphasis in Sports Science. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon. At UO she worked as a physical therapy aide and had an internship in Sports Performance for the DI Football team where she collected and analyzed Catapult Data. After Oregon, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Stanford University in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. Vanessa currently works at Movement Performance Institute administering tests such as gait and running analyses, return to sport evaluations, and strength tests that use analysis software and force plate data. Her research interests include injury prevention and post-injury biomechanics and physiology of the lower extremities. Vanessa’s future career goals are to attend medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon.
